IRF Admissions

Who is Eligible to become a patient at an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility?

Prior to admission to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, each individual is clinically assessed to determine whether his or her specific condition would benefit from the comprehensive level of services provided. A team member from the Program conducts this free, personal assessment at the individual’s home, hospital or other current setting, to see if the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program can meet the needs of the referred individual. If it is determined that the patient would benefit from the Program, the Medical Director can authorize admission to Advanced Specialty Hospitals Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital.

To be eligible for admission, it is recommended that the individual meet the following criteria:

  • Require at least two therapies (e.g., physical and occupational therapy);
  • Is medically stable;
  • Has the potential to improve function or achieve independence;
  • Has an identified discharge placement;
  • Is willing to participate with the team in the rehabilitation program; and
  • Is at least 18 years of age.

The Rehabilitation Program welcomes referrals from physicians, social workers, family members, insurance representatives, case managers and patients themselves. Most medical insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid, may cover the cost of care.

Admissions Accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
