LTACH’s provide care for patients that have an average length of stay greater than 25 days. Diagnoses that may benefit from the level of care that LTACH’s provide include but are not limited to: Ventilator Weaning/Disorders - Developed with specific disease protocols for patients who are intubated, whether orally or by tracheostomy, are ventilator-dependent, or who require mechanical support to maintain breathing. Our goal is for the patient to be able to leave the hospital without the need of the ventilator. Cardiopulmonary or Cardiovascular Diseases - Developed with specific disease involving the cardiovascular system, congestive heart failure, after an open heart surgery, complications from other health issues that affect the heart. Respiratory infections and Disorders - Developed with specific disease protocols for patients who maybe experiencing pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary edema, adult respiratory distress syndrome, multiple sclerosis, guillian barre, or possible education/training on home ventilator use. Post surgical complications - Developed with specific focus on those patients who have had a complication following a surgery, not necessarily related to the surgery. Wound Care - Developed for patients recovering from serious wound complications, extensive surgery, trauma related wounds, and for the management of pressure ulcers. Infectious Disease - Developed with specific focus on treating, managing the infectious disease process, such as MRSA,MRSE, C-Difficile, VRE, and other infectious processes. Neurological Conditions - Developed with specific focus on treating and managing neurological conditions such as a stroke, trauma injury, multiple sclerosis, guillian barre, or possibly a spinal cord injury. Musculoskeletal Disorder - This may include a patient that has had trauma, multiple fractures with complications, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, or an individual with extensive rehabilitation needs. Cancer Related Conditions - This can include patients who have or are receiving treatment for cancer and there has been some difficulties with the treatment. Congestive Heart Failure - is a condition in which the heart can't pump enough blood to the body's other organs. This can result from: Stroke or a Cerebra Vascular Accident - The Interruption of the blood supply to part of the brain due to a sudden bleed in the brain (cerebral haemorrhage) or embolism or thrombosis. Strokes vary in severity from producing almost no symptoms to proving rapidly fatal. In between are those (often recurring) that leave a wide range of impaired function, depending on the size and location of the event Complex Orthopedic Conditions - Conditions in which the patient might have experienced: Multisystem Failure - Developed to care for the patients needing treatment for infectious disease and post-surgical recovery. Nutritional Needs - Developed for those individuals with extensive nutritional needs, possibly IV Nutrition, Tube Feeding Nutrition, or a modified diet.
